We were super chuffed to join Snow Camp again this year with some of our Senior members. Young people took part in two programmes; First Tracks and Graduate.
In First Tracks they spent a few days learning basic snowboarding skills at the ChillFactore in Manchester, and by basic we mean standing upright, turning, jumping and going down the big slope.
In the Graduate Programme they developed these skills further over 5 weeks in October and November. They all progressed so far and you would not believe how much they learned in just seven sessions.
Alongside the snowboarding, they also took part in life skills session developing their wellbeing, communication, literacy and numeracy skills and gained an ASDAN qualification.
For young people turning 16 before April next year, they were invited to apply to Snow Camp’s Excel programme; 10 weeks of pushing those snowboarding skills even further and then a 7 day snowboarding residential in Europe working towards a snowboard instructors qualification.
We are so so proud to say that one of our members, Lexi, was chosen to take part in the Excel programme! She will be starting this next chapter of her snowy journey in 2023 and we can’t wait to tell you more about it.
