Volunteering sets you up with the skills for life.
We have two main volunteering options for young people; Peer Educators and Young Volunteers…
Peer Educators
Our ‘Peer Eds’ are Magic Club members in our Senior 2 group. They volunteer their time to support our younger groups in Club Sessions each week. They primarily support younger members to take part in activities, sometimes lead activities and also have conversations and build positive relationships.
Being closer in age to our younger members can sometimes make it easier for them to share challenges or even just to talk about the latest Youtuber (as the staff team are “proper old” we sometimes struggle to keep up with all the latest influencers!).
For our ‘Peer Eds’ they gain invaluable work experience, develop their communication skills and have the opportunity to take part in training and reflection.
Young Volunteers
If you are aged 16-18, even if you haven’t been a Magic Club member, we have opportunities for you to volunteer with us within our Club Sessions.
You might want to get into Youth Work or just gain work experience in a fun setting with brilliant young people.
If you are easy going, love the idea of sharing your experiences with young people and have a positive attitude, we would love to hear from you.
But what do you get?
- Experience of working with young people
- Flexible evening or holiday shifts
- Training & Supervision
- Reference (after three months)
- Contacts with a range of our partner organisations
- A really fun experience!
